Overview

CodeMark ("we", "us") operates the CodeMark registry — a service for claiming, registering, and trading unique barcode identities that resolve to business profiles. This policy explains what information we collect, why we collect it, and how you can control it.

Information we collect

  • Account details: your email address and name, used to identify you as an owner.
  • Claim and registration data: the names you claim, your region, business profile fields (business name, description, URL, category), and the term you purchase.
  • Payment data: we process payments through Stripe. We do not store full card numbers — Stripe handles card data under its own compliance.
  • Registrant details: the name, email, and phone number you provide to verify ownership of a CodeMark. You can keep these hidden from public views with the "private registrant" setting — the registry always retains them for ownership verification.
  • Messages: anything you submit through the contact form, including your name, email, and message.
  • Usage data: basic analytics about how the registry is used, to keep the service reliable and secure.

How we use your information

  • To register and verify your CodeMark assets and issue cryptographic attestations.
  • To process payments, manage ownership terms, and send renewal reminders.
  • To operate the marketplace, including listings, offers, and ownership transfers. For resales, the buyer's payment is held in escrow on the CodeMark Stripe account for up to 48 hours (or until the buyer confirms) before it is paid out to the seller.
  • To respond to support and contact messages.
  • To prevent fraud and protect the integrity of the registry.

Public registry data

Certain information about claimed CodeMarks — such as the name, serial, business profile, and verification status — is published in the public registry so scans resolve correctly and ownership can be independently verified. Business profile fields you choose to attach are visible to anyone who scans or views a CodeMark.

Sharing

We do not sell your personal information. We share data only with service providers that help us run the platform (such as Stripe for payments and our email provider for transactional email), where required by law, or in connection with a marketplace transfer you initiate. If you sell a CodeMark, your payout is delivered through your own connected Stripe account, which is governed by Stripe's privacy policy as well.

Your rights

You can access, correct, or remove the profile information attached to your CodeMarks from "My barcodes". You may request deletion of your account and associated data by contacting us. Retention of registry records for claimed assets is required to maintain the public integrity of the registry.

Security

We protect accounts with authenticated sessions and sign attestations cryptographically. Sensitive operations run server-side and access is restricted to the owner of each record.
